‘Test of Legal English Skills’ is a structured course of three levels of professional exams. Each exam provides progressive steps towards the standard required by employers such as international law firms and in house legal teams. TOLES material has been developed by experienced commercial lawyers. This material is developed in concert with the demands of top employers who require candidates with strong negotiating skills and commercial awareness. TOLES is also a member of The Law Society of England and Wales and prides itself on it’s position in the support of international Legal professionals.

The ‘International Legal English Certificate’ was a qualification that proved to employers that a candidate had the advanced English skills to work with English law on the international stage. The course was officially withdrawn in December 2016 and Cambridge English now recommend students take the ‘CAE’ (Cambridge Advanced English).
Not withstanding the above, we have found that ILEC is still a very popular mode of study and covers a wide range of material useful to the legal professional and the like. The material is in-depth, useful and relevant.

IELTS is one of the most popular tests in the world relied on by people who wish to migrate or study in an English speaking country. IELTS is accepted by over 10,000 organisations worldwide, including schools, universities, employers, immigration authorities and professional bodies. Students are assessed on a 9-band scale which clearly identifies proficiency level, from non-user (band score 1) through to expert (band score 9).

General English classes are designed to provide a level of English suitable for everyday activities. General English is what we use in situations such as shopping, speaking with friends and colleagues.  Whether a student wants to learn English from scratch or continue practising, there is a wealth of material which can be used to achieve an effective way of learning. These classes are designed around the student using either published learning material such as face2face, English File or news articles, video’s or a topic of choice. The aim of each class is to provide students with a pleasant and effective environment. Our teaching methods have helped many students achieve increased confidence and fluency. We teach all levels of student from beginner to advanced and all age groups from 12 upwards.

Professionals are finding that to become more confident in communicating with colleagues, prospective customers and employers in the international arena, it is desirable to use a benchmark of English that is more appropriate for the environment.
